The People Behind The Work

Decades of jewellery knowledge, brought together in a personal private-client service.

Bespoke jewellery should feel considered from the first conversation to the final fitting. James and Dale combine gemstone expertise, traditional craftsmanship and a highly personal way of working — offering something quieter, warmer and more individual than the typical high-street jewellery experience.

Jewellery and gemstone specialist since the early 1980s

Founder / Jewellery & Gemstone Specialist

James has worked in the jewellery and gemstone world since the early 1980s. He began by buying and selling antique jewellery to both the trade and public while studying for his FGA, before co-founding the Soho jeweller Jess James — a shop known for championing distinctive young British jewellery designers alongside pieces from its own workshop.

In 2002, James helped establish Wint & Kidd in Westbourne Grove, a bespoke diamond jeweller specialising in white and natural coloured diamonds, handmade settings and highly personal commissions. Today, his focus is private clients: sourcing exceptional gemstones and creating fine jewellery that feels elegant, individual and made to last.

Goldsmith / Bespoke Jewellery Maker

Dale is a qualified goldsmith with more than 20 years’ experience working across gold, silver, platinum, palladium and titanium. Before joining James, his career included work with respected names including Asprey & Garrard and Mappin & Webb, giving him a strong foundation in fine jewellery craftsmanship and traditional bench skills.

As head goldsmith for Wint & Kidd, Dale worked closely on bespoke diamond pieces and individual client commissions. His work combines traditional making methods with modern techniques such as laser welding and computer-aided design, allowing him to turn personal ideas into jewellery that feels refined, distinctive and beautifully resolved.

Focus

Handcrafting, CAD-supported design, laser welding, platinum work, bespoke rings and one-off commissions.

“A piece of jewellery should feel as considered as the moment it marks — personal, beautifully made, and quietly enduring.”

From gemstone sourcing and engagement rings to remodelling, one-off commissions and meaningful gifts, the process is designed to be transparent, relaxed and deeply personal.
